There’s more to the story…
Wendy grew up in the historic foothills of Western Washington. On a small family farm, she raised and slaughtered her own animals and cultivated a garden. This connection to and intimacy with life in rural America gave her a deep appreciation for well-raised animals and food, and the people who produce them. She was involved in 4-H and Future Farmers of America (FFA) throughout childhood, but never tipped cows.
As a young adult, Wendy traded muddy boots for a business suit and moved to the city. She was an HR professional and an operations manager in the high-tech and insurance industries. Her business writing has been viewed by thousands of jobseekers and healthcare recipients.
Wendy has written creatively since 2016. Her instructors include well-known authors, artists and scholars such as Michael Cunningham, Karen Russell, J. Ryan Stradal, Jeffrey Ford, Michele L. Simms-Burton, Ph.D., and Gish Jen. Wendy’s fiction explores the lives of women and girls in the 1960s, 70s and 80s, and often involves the spiritual side of farm life.
Wendy is a Master Beef Advocate, a card-carrying member of the Washington State Cattleman’s Association, a long-term carnivore, and an animal lover. She lives in the city, but prefers the quiet parts of Washington.
